I started playing video games when I was 4 years old, and have been playing since, though
college made it hard to find time during the week to do so. I started out with
a NES and then went on to aquire a SNES, Genesis, Turbographix 16, GameBoy,
PlayStation, GameBoy Color, Nintendo 64, Playstation 2, GameBoy Advance, and
Game Cube. Of course I also have a PC but for some reason or another I've always
enjoyed playing console games a lot better.
In terms of genres I've played almost all of them except the MMORPG, mainly because
I don't like having to buy a game then pay a subscription fee, plus the only
social aspect I really want with a game is when I have friends over. I never
liked the fact the game kept going once you turned it off too, plus I don't play
any one game a whole lot any way. My favorite genres are RPG, strategy, and
action/adventure. My collection will more than likely make those favorites quite
obvious. Though I don't particularly like the effect sequels have on the industry
I do have quite a few series in my collection (the whole Mega Man X series being
one of those, and the main Mega Man series thanks to the collection on PS2). So while sequels do typically stifle creative growth in the industry, as a consumer they are a much surer bet to have fun with. Of course after a while you do get really tired of the same old characters and gameplay.
I have played quite a few games, and own around 150 now. So the collection will
be put up in a week or so, as it's a highly tedious task to go through and write them down, and then maybe some reviews and pictures. Honestly though with IGN, GameSpot, 1UP, and the myriad of other game review sites I don't think mine will beat out all of those, as there are only so many hours a day to play video games.
So for now the reviews section is empty and the collection is very incomplete. In the next week or so I'll put up a review of Earthbound as it is the latest game I have beaten (took a while to play it as I never owned it).
