The Home of The True Coolness
The Home of The True Coolness
Welcome
Welcome to the new and hopefully improved Home of the True Coolness, now with PHP, JavaScript, and better CSS and XHTML (now actually served up as xhtml+xml for browsers that support it). Some of the pages use JavaScript so you will want to enable that (mainly for the clock and image viewer). My pages will not open pop-ups, or change any window settings (size, status bar, etc.) so you can leave those disabled. As you will also notice all the pages are valid XHTML 1.1 and have a valid CSS style sheet. I care about standards for web design and think others should follow suit.

Unfortunately just complying with standards does not guarantee that the site will work in every browser, so right now this page is best viewed in Firefox or any Netscape based browser, but not IE6 (maybe IE7 but I can't test it so who knows). I have no plans to fully support IE, since most of my images are transparent pngs which will not display properly in IE6 (supposedly they do in IE7 but once again I can't test it). So I would recommend doing yourself a favor and downloading Firefox, or some other real browser (Opera, Mozilla). Most of these are safer, and have many more features than IE, so really what do you have to lose, except a bad browser. Do not be fooled by IE7, it is merely catching up to the other browsers in terms of functionality and security.

To the left you will find the navigational bar which will lead you to different areas of my homepage. As you have more than likely already noticed the page you are currently on is highlighted in a different color on the nav bar.

So welcome to my little corner of the internet.
Bookmarks have been updated.

Well over the weekend I decided I would do my favorite links using XML instead of SQL. Didn't realize how much work that would involve creating XML schemas, then having to traverse the DOM tree of the XML to get the links to display properly. But I got it all working so now you can see some recommended links of mine. So today's lesson, if you already have a DBMS system to use, use that instead of trying to do XML. See the bookmarks.

So let's hope this updating trend continues, and some of my Java programs get up here before the weeks end.

I'm Back, Hello Again
Fri December 15 03:49:06 AM
Well after changing hosting to the hosting my friend got for his website which I created and maintain for him (Nuclear Powered Toaster), my site is finally back up. It's still a bit devoid of content but that will be changing over the coming weeks as I can now focus on cleaning up my old programming projects. I also might find time to start working on my RPG Maker 2 game again.

I think the changes to my site are pretty good. I like the cleaner layout I have now, and the fact this is all made with PHP and not JavaScript is a big help. PHP is just so much more powerful than JavaScript, and now it's easier than ever for me to add and edit content on my pages.

Well that's about all I got for now, look for some new content to pop up here, and when they do I'll put the posts here. I might eventually put up an RSS feed, but I'll have to learn how to make those first, and have actual content to go in it.

So expect to see the bookmarks page fill up by sometime early next week.
